How it works · Ahead
Every date, before it matters
The route from S1 to university has a dozen fixed points that most families discover late, and it runs a year ahead of the route south of the border. Fincho puts them on one timeline for each child, with the source of every date.

Real screens from the app, test accounts only, captured from an English student's account. The panels are the same here, with your own courses and grades in them.
S4, September
Eilidh opens Ahead. The roadmap shows what is coming: prelims after the winter break, the exam diet from 26 April to 3 June, results on 10 August. Each national date links to the Qualifications Scotland page it came from.
Below that is the route: National 5 this year, Highers in S5, then Advanced Highers or more Highers in S6, with the university application in between. Her school's prelim dates go in with one line.
National dates with sources
The Qualifications Scotland exam timetable, results day, university deadlines. Checked every September and January; every date shows where it came from.
The school's own calendar
Term dates, the October and February breaks, in-service days and prelim weeks are read from the school's website and confirmed by the student.
Plans that know the calendar
Prelims and the diet shape the weekly plan automatically. Revision starts when it should, not when panic does.
Reminders, not nagging
A note in the app two weeks and two days before a milestone. Nothing more.
What parents see
You see the next milestone for each child on the family dashboard, and the full roadmap in the weekly report.
More of what Fincho does
- Daily planEvery Sunday Pip drafts the week from the timetable, homework and weak spots. Every morning: three things for the time you have. Done means a twig on the nest.
- Schoolwork reviewTell Pip the score, show it the paper. It reads the wrong answers, spots that three mistakes are one habit, explains the costly one, and remembers the rest for practice.
- PracticeQuestions in the style of your course, never copied from a past paper, marked point by point against the marking instructions. Hint first, answer last. Wrong ones come back with new numbers.
- GradesUpload the report as photos or a PDF. Pip reads the grade codes, learns your school's format, shows a table to check, and talks the report through with the student.
- FutureThe S3 subject choice, which Highers to take in S5, what S6 is for, and university applications. Pip asks more than it tells, checks what feels easy against what scores well, and shows what each route requires, with the source.
